What you will get in “Eddie Murphy: One Night Only,” airing tonight at 10 p.m. on the cable net, is a serious lifetime achievement type of tribute, laced with laughter from fellow comedians including Jamie Foxx, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Arsenio Hall, Martin Lawrence and Tracy Morgan.
It’s the first-ever televised tribute to the comedy icon, and the show will take you on a journey from Murphy’s childhood through his iconic characters on “Saturday Night Live,” like Buckwheat, Gumby, Mr. Robinson and James Brown, which rocketed him to stardom in the early 1980s.
Guys like Russell Brand, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Adam Sandler and Arsenio Hall gather in a big supper-club-like atmosphere to talk about what they owe to Murphy, who’s sitting on a couch up front with a gorgeous blond and seems to be quite enjoying the whole affair.
Watch the video as Tracy Morgan explains that Eddie taught him, “I could be sexy and funny at the same time. I don’t have to choose anymore!”

Eddie Murphy is bringing Beverly Hills Cop to the small screen.
CBS has given a pilot production commitment to Murphy and “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryanfor a new TV show revolving around the son ofAlex Foley, Murphy’s iconic fast-talking police detective from the 1984 blockbuster movie and its two sequels.
The proposed series would focus on Aaron Foley, who works to take down bad guys in ritzy Beverly Hills while dealing with the legacy left by his legendary father.
